Turnaround of AIMA’s (All India Management Association) Distance Education Division

1992
Situation
AIMA had seen major threats from IGNOU’s Management distance education program, resulting in AIMA’s serious decline in enrollments for its programs resulting into problems of not even meeting its operating expenses.
Major Interventions
Created an Autonomous Business School `Centre for Management Education’ under AIMA. With this new branding, recreated the brand equity by making curriculum, student services and support more contemporary and student centric.
Set up country wide chain of nodal centers across 50 cities to support students closest to their location.

Designed and implemented new management education models such as Consortium MBA, In-company PGDM, Executive Doctorate in Business Administration.
Launched country’s first ever Interactive Satellite Channel (SINET) for supporting students located across the nation.
Designed and launched Post-Graduate Information Technology Programmes in areas such as Electronic Commerce. Also, brought Deakin University, the then very contemporary program on “Electronic Data Interchange” program
Launched India’s first ever Management Virtual University on Internet (AIMAUNIV.NET).
Outcomes
CME –AIMA became the largest business school in private autonomous sector in India in 1999.
Built AIMA’s overall enrollment to 15,000 during its peak

Project
Creating new Management Services Business for AIMA
Year
1996
Situation
With Govt.’s liberalization policy, new Business schools were coming up in large numbers across India in mid nineties. An Opportunity was noticed to support these emerging Business Schools through set of innovative Management Services.
Major Interventions
Created a new center under AIMA, Center for Management Services to focus on this opportunity.

The innovative management services launched included Student Admission and Corporate Recruitment Tests, Marketing and Promotion Services, Material Resource Services, Accreditation of Business Schools and Management Teachers etc.
Created over 100 test centers across India to support the testing services
Outcomes
Establishment of MAT (Management Aptitude Test) of AIMA catered to the needs of newly emerging business schools as at the time CAT was a closed group. At peak, the MAT saw total registrations of 200,000 test takers by 1999

The Revenues of this Division was touching about INR10 Crores in 1999.

Project
Establishment of a Training and Consulting Institute in Petroleum & Energy Sector (ISPe)

Situation
With opening of Oil & Gas and Power Sector, a need was felt in opening up an Institution for the training and competency building organization and consulting and advisory services to enable various organizations in achieving technical and business excellence.
Major Interventions
Created the blueprint of the Petroleum and Energy Training Institute.

Established a panel more than 100 experts, with over 2,000 man-years of experience across diverse areas that provide a strong knowledge backbone to the school.
Developed Certification programs in Energy Sector such Certified Petroleum Manager, Certified Power Manager etc.
Developed models for manpower leasing to fulfill short term requires of Oil & Gas and Power sector.
Outcomes
Built the country’s first energy sector continuing education, training, consulting and process outsourcing institution, the India School of Petroleum and Energy

Project
Establish the First Domain Specific University to develop highly skilled manpower for the Energy Sector (UPES)

2001
Situation
Around 2001-02, there was a major development in Oil & Gas and Power sector and under new regulatory regime the sector was also being liberalized. The Indian economy was on growth trajectory. Sensing this opportunity, a team of Energy Entrepreneurs and Educationalists wanted to build a unique institution with state-of-art facilities to deliver world class training, research, consultancy, and education activities covering entire spectrum of Energy and Transportation industry.
Major Interventions
Created the blueprint of the Energy Institute Concept
Carried out extensive Market Research in India about the concept and market validation of the courses.
Carried out an international bench marking tour of three continents and seven countries to investigate the existing institutions which offers courses like those that were thought for above institute.
Created Detailed Project Report to UPES to get enacted by State Legislative Assembly Uttaranchal July 2003
Designed nearly 80 academic program portfolio, created 5 constituent colleges, developed world-class Infrastructure.
Outcomes
From ideation stage to large campus offering over 80 programs in Engineering, Business, Legal and Design Studies with over 12000 students on 42 Acres campus with 1 million sq.ft. built up area for academic and residential purposes in 2015.

Project
Establishment of a New Age University in North Eastern Region (UTM)

2011
Situation
North Eastern part of India has a major absence of quality education providers. The promoters and the government of Meghalaya wanted to establish a University which can cater to the needs of NE students thereby alleviate the NE students’ migration to other parts of the country for quality education.
Major Interventions
Carried out broad Market Research in North Eastern region to find out the kind of programs that are liked by local population and has employability possibilities in the region.
Created Detailed Project Report to University of Technology and Management (UTM) to get enacted by State Legislative Assembly Meghalaya in 2011.
Designed nearly 10 new academic programs catering to hospitality, travel, tourism, retail management, IT, sports management
Established a dedicated campus in record time and created standard and procedures in Student Acquisition, Faculty Recruiting, Establishment of Career Services
Outcomes
A new age University came up in Shillong 2012 with contemporary programs offerings with employability potential
Enrollment grew to 600 students in 2015
UTM became a part of MIT Pune Group of Institutions in 2016

Establish of EIT (Energy Infrastructure and Transportation) programs at Universities in Mexico, Malaysia, Cyprus and Turkey (UVM, Mexico and INTI, Malaysia)

Laureate International Network University wanted to expand product portfolio of UPES in EIT segment with high quality and employability potential programs in the geographies where it was of importance

Developed and launched of EIT programs at various locations.

Specified lab equipments and their possible sourcing from India.
Outcomes
At UVM, Mexico, established Petroleum Engineering program at three of their campuses with first batch students recruited. Also, got a pilot program for Technical, Vocational Education started at Veracruz campus
At INTI, Malaysia, developed programs in offshore structures and pipeline engineering within their civil and mechanical engineering departments.
At European University , Cyprus, developed the outlines for programs in Renewable Energy
At Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey, helped define curriculum in Natural Gas engineering and helped them conduct a large international conference in Energy

New University development for Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology Group

Situation
With the introduction of AP Pvt University Act 2016, GIET group wanted to convert their existing institutions into a University structure.
Major Interventions
Created Detailed Project Report to establish Godavari Global University in Rajamundry, AP
Incorporating the existing Institutions and some new ones into a University structure as part of the detailed report.
Got the aerial survey done for the existing institutions and adjoining plots to define the campus structure for the proposed university
Outcomes
The project was filed with AP Govt

International University project for Great Lakes Institute of Management Group (Great Lakes International University, Sricity)

Situation
With the introduction of AP Pvt University Act 2016, GLIM group wanted to start a Greenfield University in Sricity, AP a noted SEZ bordering Tamil Nadu.
Major Interventions
Created Detailed Project Report to establish Great Lakes International University.
​
Developed a new generation program portfolio focusing on Decision Sciences, Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and other such cutting technology areas.
​
Carried out a survey in Sricity to find an appropriate plot for the proposed university.
​
Filed the DPR with AP Govt and presented to the Expert Committee.
Outcomes
The Gazette notification of the Great Lakes International University has been passed in 2017.
​
An interim infrastructure has been found out for start up operations.
